Mutua Madrid Open Trophy 2024

Rublev levantando su trofeo

In tennis, every competition culminates in a moment of glory: the lifting of the trophy. This year, at the Mutua Madrid Open 2024, we have been honoured to be part of this important moment once again. Thanks to the renewed collaboration with our artist and friend David Rodríguez Caballero, we have been able to contribute once again to the creation of a trophy that not only symbolises victory, but also the fusion of art and sport.

Classical inspiration with modern innovation

The design of the trophy is not only intended to celebrate the champion’s victory, but also to convey and tell a story. This year, the narrative focuses on “Tyche”, the goddess of fortune in classical Greece. The artist found the parallelism and the link to tennis in this one, deciding that it was the ideal piece. In tennis as in life, fortune plays a crucial role and it is this duality that Rodríguez Caballero has masterfully captured.

The trophy for the tournament

There is a special feature for this year. As always, innovation is sought, and this time aluminium has been chosen. This material transition makes it lighter, enhances the aesthetics of the trophy and improves its functionality, offering champions a more manageable and ergonomic piece. The design incorporates a copper wire which is used to join the four inner planes of the trophy. This highlights its complexity and intrinsic beauty. In addition, the traditional base has been removed, allowing the trophy to stand on its own, emphasising its imposing design and presence.

This year there has been no luck for the Spanish tennis players in the competition, with Andrey Rublev winning the men’s category and Iga Świątek winning the women’s category.

The collaboration with the artist

Collaboration with David Rodríguez Caballero is always a symbiosis of creativity and technical execution. This year, he has decided to count on us for the realisation of the trophy, not only taking charge of designing a flawless idea, but together with us he has been able to materialise it. Our team and facilities have presented a collaborative process that ensured every aspect of the design was executed to perfection, from its initial concept to the final outcome of the trophies.

Moreover, this year has been particularly exciting. In addition to the main trophies, a special trophy has been created in honour of Rafael Nadal, recognising his impressive legacy in this competition. Rafa has been an iconic figure in world tennis and has left an impeccable mark on the tournament over two decades, winning five times. This trophy was not only to celebrate his sporting achievements, but also his indomitable spirit and contribution to tennis.
